Sometimes as humans we put up walls. Defense mechanisms that save us from our worst attack: our emotions. We ignore our thoughts and feelings and shut everyone out. We make ourselves opaque, preventing people from reading us and seeing our inner feelings and thoughts. We prefer to be alone because we think it will make us feel better.
When this happens, when life occurs, we need to find ways to express ourselves and find our inner peace:
• Write down your feelings. Let it out. Keep a journal.
• Draw, paint or create something. Express yourself with pictures.
• Open up to someone. Find someone to talk to. People around us care more than we sometimes realise.
• Understand that your feelings matter. No matter how big your problem is your feelings, thoughts and emotions matter. Just because someone may have it worst doesn’t mean that you aren’t allowed to feel bad about your problems.
